When I was just a little girl,
I prayed for a doll house for Christmas.
But I never ever got one;
So I guess God said "No".

When I was a teen-ager,
I prayed to have friends.
But None came my way;
So I guess God said "Later".

When I was a young girl,
I prayed for a boy friend.
But the ones I got were wrong;
So I guess God said "Not yet".

When I was a young woman,
I prayed for a husband.
But the one I got was bad;
So I guess God said "End it".

When I was a little older,
I prayed for my children to be good.
I will always love them dearly too;
And God said "They will turn out fine".

When I was older still,
I prayed for a soul mate.
And I finally found one;
So God said "He's the one".

Now in my old age,
I pray for our health and long life
And it's been good;
So far God has answered my wishes.

If I must pray
For many more years,
Let it be so.
For God is my life-line.

I will forever pray,
Every night and day.
So God will hear me
And grant me many more years.

I am not afraid of dying,
But only of losing loved ones.
Only I must be patient
For only God knows my fate.
