If ever there was a time When something wasn't right, And words were said That were harsh and cruel, Then whatever was there Is gone by now.
Advice was given with good intentions As only past experience goes; Not meant to hurt But only to help, And not to ridicule Nor be above anyone.
Sometimes too many times, Words can be too much And better left unsaid. But tongues do waggle on Not thinking too far ahead, Nor even if they should be said.
Regret is beside the point now, Because forgiveness is naught. Not by what was said first, But the reply in the end. Too many times words have hurt, And fault was given without explainations.
Sadness comes to mind When mistakes are made. Without knowing the error, Offense was taken just the same. And two lives were broken, Their hearts shattered asunder.
It was said by one, That the other was rude And with a "holier than thou" attitude; But in fact the other is far from that. The other only thought to help Even tho the idea misquided.
Other words were strong And thought terribly cruel. It was said that the other seemed snobish & better than the one. But in fact the other is not Any better than anyone else.
It will never be the same again, Friendship has gone The way of the wind. No matter what the future, Nothing will it mend. Love was broken with those words, Hateful and cruel they were.
An old rhyme says, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, But words will never hurt me". It is simply not true But quite the opposite; Sometimes words do hurt!
