I can see the sunlight
Far in the distance,
But it's not really there.
I can see a ray of hope
Touch my hand,
But it never really reaches there.
I can see a flower
Somewhere out there,
But it never really blooms at all.
I can see a child's face
Begin to smile,
But something happens
And he begins to frown.
I see these things
And I start to wander,
Will I ever see
Anything different?
Will the world
Ever learn to love,
Or is it that they
Never will?
I look at you
And ask myself,
Will you ever
Understand,
Or am I all alone?
Will it be only me,
To know the truth?
Will I ever see
Children smile,
And see the ray of hope?
Will these things
Ever come to be,
Or will they
Ever change?
I see these things
And I start to wander,
Will I ever see
Anything different?
Will the world
Ever learn to love,
Or is it that
They never will?
