"Whatever Happened To The Yesterdays?"
Way back when I was young,
Things were different than today.
I'm not talking about progress,
Or any of those marvelous things.

Doors were left unlocked at night,
And you wouldn't be burgled.
A person could walk alone,
And not be afraid.

Whatever happened to the yesterdays,
When life was so very simple?

There were no gangs,
In my little town then.
There were no stores closed and shuttered,
Nor grafity marring their facades.

Families were close
And lived together happily.
Children could play in the streets
And not fear the traffic.

Whatever happened to the yesterdays,
When life was so very simple?

Everyone knew everyone else,
And knew the goodness in them.
Churches were filled every Sunday,
And the town's streets were empty.

Summer picnics in the park,
With neighbors coming together;
And everyone enjoying fellowship,
Including the children.

Whatever happened to the yesterdays,
When life was so very simple?

I guess times do change,
But sometimes not for the better.
Things happen in progress,
Some good and some very bad.

People's attitudes have changed,
And they forget what's important.
Innocence seems to be gone,
Mostly by design or lack of it.

Whatevery happened to the yesterdays,
When life was so very simple?

Morality doesn't matter for some,
As they do evil things to others.
High officials don't seem to care,
As criminals are let loose among us.

Now prayer is forbidden
In schools and public places.
No wonder God is angry
And allows satan to enter lives.

Whatever happened to the yesterdays,
When life was so very simple?

You must keep God in your heart
And not allow satan a foot hold.
Remember Jesus died for our sins;
So pray for forgiveness every day.

Do not allow today's horrors
Touch your heart and soul.
Remain innocent in all you do,
And pray for your enemies.
