My husband doesn't make much money,
But we have all that we need.
We are comfortable and happy,
And that's what's important don't you see.
I have clothes on my back,
And food in my belly.
I have family to love,
And friends a plenty.
I don't mind the weather;
At least not yet anyway.
The days go by a little slowly right now,
But that doesn't really bother me.
My son and his wife are back together,
And I guess that's a good thing.
At least he seems to be happy,
And that's all the matters to me.
Today I saw a meadowlark;
Unusal for these parts.
It's a joy to see such a bird this time of year,
A treat for these old eyes of mine.
Every time I hear or see such an unusual thing,
Joy leaps into my heart and mind.
I relish each and every event,
That reminds me I'm alive.
Happiness sometimes just happens;
You don't have to look far to reach that plain.
You just have to gaze around,
And you'll see all the lovely miracles.
Set a goal and go for it,
And make your life as you wish.
But don't forget to really see,
The important things around you.
A day in the life of many,
Starts with only a penny.
Set your goals for happiness,
And true wealth will be yours.
