Days passed me by As I hid away From the heat of Summer And the joy of being outside.
Once Summer was an escape From responisibility and pressure As I played with others Who enjoyed life of freeness.
But childhood goes away And age weighs me down As I try to stay cool And not think about old times.
Oh, Summer that once was And childhood never to return. I long to go back in time To joyous days of sunshine.
The innocence of friendships And love of playground games That brought much laughter And joy with those games won or lost.
Alas, those days are gone Never to return again. Maybe soon those days will be again As I make my forever farewells.
Until that time arrives I'll do the best I can And learn to love Summer.. At least for a little longer.
