"Storm's Challenge"

In the darkness of a summer storm,
With a flashing night sky,
Followed by a screaming wind
And harsh rain and hail,
Comes with  it anticipation and fear.

I stand inside my home,
Watching all the deluge,
As if God has unleashed His anger
Upon the populace of this world
To let us know He is dissatisfied.

However, at the end of the storm,
The clouds move onward,
And the moon and stars reappear
As if God gives us another chance
To see His loving light.

As day break brings a brightness
Of a clear blue sky that shines anew,
Some damage is viewed in places
Where the wind has taken leaves aloft
And broken a few limbs from trees.

Other storms have been worse,
And some have come by day,
Bringing much more damage
Than just leaves and trees,
And a lot of  ruined homes.

Of all that has occured
In almost everyone's lives,
It comes to mind of a time past
As I remember my closest call,
Of when a storm came too close.

With the help of God,
I came thru just fine,
And I knew I was spared
From the storms fury,
And I thanked God for my life.

If we are to survive
The storms of our lives,
We must remember God
And  what He stands for,
And ask for foregiveness of our sins.

There is a reason for what God does,
But He never gives us anything
We cannot indure with His Love,
For without His love
We faulter and fall.
