I look at the stars
And wonder why,
Of all the things out there,
Why they shine the way they do.
I see the ugliness
Of our world,
And ask myself
Why that is so.
I can't imagine,
Of all the beauty there is,
Why some people
Are so evil.
As I see our government,
Taking over our lives,
I wonder if maybe we are doomed,
To become their slaves.
I listen to the media,
Talking about far away wars,
And I wonder if maybe,
There isn't some other way.
I hear of families splitting up,
And feel so sad for the children.
I wonder what brought it on,
Or was it simply they shouldn't have been.
I read of theiving and murder,
Happening all over the world,
And I wonder why people
Just can't get along.
I feel that just maybe,
Something evil this way comes.
Or do we allow these things
To happen thru apathy.
Am I so wrong to assume
That no one cares?
Or am I imagining
All these terrible things?!
All of this and much more,
Keeps going thru my mind.
I'd rather think of the beauty out there,
Than just simply wondering.
