Some one once told me
A long time ago,
To let the past go,
forgive and forget.

It is very good advice,
But sometimes hard to follow.
No matter how hard one tries,
The past will sometimes haunt.

It will rise up at unexpected moments,
And hit like a bolt of lightening,
To interfere with your thoughts,
And bring back bad memories.

When you can't talk about the past,
Because no one will listen,
It's hard to forget and forgive,
No matter how hard one tries.

Life goes it's own way,
Sometimes rearing it's ugly head.
No matter what you do,
It's there forever haunting.
