"Night Sounds"
The moon glides across the sky,
Sending soft shadows over the land.
The stars twinkle ever brightly,
Giving children wonderous wishing.

Pools of light beyond the darkness,
Scare away demons of the night.
White Lillies blooming ever so,
That shine with a halo likeness.

A single cloud floats above,
Only momentarily hiding the moon.
It gradually slides on by,
And again a softness returns.

Night bugs voice their gentle songs,
As they serenade to their mates.
All the birds are asleep,
Tenacously holding to their perch.

I sit in all this gentleness,
Savoring all that there is.
I listen to the night sounds,
And wish upon a star.

My wishes may never come to be,
But that's not what really matters.
Just being alive to see and hear these things,
Is all that really counts.

I take the time to cherish,
Each and every moment.
I hope God has blessed me,
With knowledge to feel what's there.

I have tried to teach my children,
The difference one can make.
If they only listen to the night,
And hear what God has to say.

God speaks in every living thing,
Whether it be animal, flower, bird, bug or weed.
Everything has a voice,
If you care to hear it's song.

That is why I sit ouside at night,
And listen to those lovely sounds.
It makes me feel as though,
I was a part of the scheme of things.

I can almost hear the moon,
As it slowly goes on it's way.
Sliding across the sky so dark,
Shining it's light to everyone.

If I'm very very still,
I can even hear an ant walk.
Up and over each blade of grass,
It slowly finds it's way.

Sometimes I can even hear a bird,
As it snores in it's sleep.
So different from it's usual song,
Yet not entirely without tone.

And when the wind gently blows,
I hear a music there too.
Making a soft gentle sound,
That passes and ruffles my hair.

I love to sit on the porch at night,
And listen to all those sounds.
A peace wells up inside of me,
And gives me a floatful feeling.

I can't express my totalness,
And the feeling of calmness.
It's something every one must experience,
A gentleness of the night sounds.
