"Memories Of My Youth"
The soft warm wind blowing thru my hair,
Brings to mind a few fine memories.
Memories of my tender young years,
When I had no worries in mind.
Summer breezes of sweet scents,
Smelling of lilacs and roses.
I try to remember all of those,
And many things more.
My favorite times of year,
Has always been Spring and Summer.
This is when out-door life begins,
And all the colors bloom anew.
I have walked among the groves,
Of fruit trees that were in full bloom.
I have climbed those very same trees,
And eaten of those delectable fruits.
Running thru the tall grasses,
Then fallng to lay amidst the softness.
Staring up into the sky,
And dreaming of shapes among the clouds.
The evening always came slowly then,
And brought with it sparkling fireflies.
As a child I used to catch them,
Only to release them a short while later.
Sometimes I would walk in the darkness,
Just to feel the summer night around me.
I would feel the soft beezes on my cheeks,
Soothing away the heat of my sunburns.
The best of times were a night,
As I lay in my bed about to sleep.
The windows open across the room,
Helped to bring to me a lovely dream.
Waking up the next morning,
To delicious smells of pancakes and syrup.
Rushing out the door afterwards,
To begin again memories of my youth.
