"If Wishes Were Pennies"
So long ago when I was young
I wished upon a star,
For happy times
And everlasting love.
But if wishes were pennies,
I'd be rich by now.

My life began as a child
And I grew old along with the stars.
I see a shooting star
And make my silly little wishes.
Sometimes dreams come true,
And sometimes wishes do too.
I see the first star at night,
And I dream and wish with all my might.
But if wishes were pennies,
I'd be rich by now.

I have had a lot of wishes come true,
Family and God have brought me through.
Something has changed my life,
From when I was young.
I don't know if it was dreams,
Or wishing upon a star.

I am satisfied with life and love,
Happiness has found me
And I can't ask for more.
But everytime I see
That first star up there,
I make another silly wish.
But if wishes were pennies,
I'd be rich by now.

Little do I know,
how life really works.
All I know is,
I am  and  you are.
Everybody makes a wish
From time to time,
And sometimes they come to be,
How and why we do not know.

I see my children,
Gazing up at the night sky.
And I just know,
That they are wishing upon a star.
They will soon find out,
Just as I once did.
If wishes were pennies,
I'd be rich by now.
