"I Can't Hear Their Songs"
If ever there was a time,
When I was very happy,
It was when I was very small,
And troubles never touched me.

But as the years passed on,
My life began to change.
The world and problems grew ever more,
And I new not why.

If ever the birds did sing,
It was a long time ago,
When the world was young,
And their songs sang of love.

Now I can't hear their songs,
For their innocence is gone.
People and their troubles,
Interfer with love.

Such a precious thing,
Is life itself.
But people just hurry on,
Not even knowing what is wrong.

Too many people tend to forget,
What life is really about.
The days of yesteryear,
And the joy of youth is gone.

If ever the children played,
It was a long time ago.
When the world was young,
And their songs were of love.

Now I can't hear thier songs,
For their innocence is gone.
People and their troubles,
Interfer with love.
