There's a place that's in my mind,
Where only magnolia trees grow.
The streets are paved with red brick,
And lawns are perfectly trimmed.
The temperature stays the same,
And it only rains after midnight.
The weather never gets bad,
And the winds are so very gentle.
Pets never venture from their own yards;
They know where they belong.
Children can play in the streets;
There's no danger of speeding cars.
No crime comes to this place;
It doesn't exist there at all.
People feel safe and sound,
And happiness always abounds.
Everyone speaks as they pass;
They all know each other.
When someone new arrives,
It's as if they've always belonged.
This place does not really exist,
But only in my mind.
Maybe someday I'll see something similar,
When I finally reach heaven.
I know it may yet be a long time,
Before my name is called.
But I shall be ready,
When my time finally comes.
I will not rush it tho,
For there are things yet undone.
But until then.........
I will dream of it just the same.
I don't know where heaven is,
But I believe it is there.
Everyone I have ever known,
Will greet me as I come home.
