I'm sitting here in my warm and cozy apartment,
Looking out the window at the dull and dreary day.
I can see the cold wind,
Blowing the dead leaves from the trees.
They say it's supposed to snow today,
But I sure hope it don't.
We've had our fill of winter storms this season,
And I can't stand being cooped up any more.
Some people like the cold and snow,
But not me -- let them enjoy it somewhere else.
I wanna go out and play,
Underneath the warm sunshine.
I long for the days of warm rays,
And basking all day long.
I want to plant new flowers,
And smell their beautiful bouquets.
I love to watch new life begin,
In the growth of Spring.
All the wonderful colors,
And fragrances that it brings.
The winter seasons are such a bore,
With it's brown and gray colors all around.
I prefer Spring and Summer,
Of greens, reds, pinks and clear blues.
Springs and Summers have their storms too,
But they quickly pass.
Afterwards the clouds go away,
And the sun reigns again.
Winter storms are mostly different,
As they linger for days on end.
I moan and groan as I watch,
Snowflakes, or sleet, or icy rain fall.
So I sit in my comfy chair,
All cuddled up within a blanket.
Knowing that there is still,
A couple months of Winter to go yet.
I close my eyes and try to forget,
As the blustering winds whistle around my windows.
I gently drift off to sleep,
And I again dream of Spring.
