"My Chi-Chi"
It's been several years now,
Since I lost a very dear friend.
She was so very special,
None other can replace.

Eyes of the brownest brown,
And hair so very tawny.
She had a sleek body
And legs of perfection for her.

Her tail would wag with joy,
Every time she came near me.
A smile would cross her pretty face,
And I could see the love there.

She would tolerate none but me,
And wouldn't let anyone else touch her.
She had a hard temper you see,
But not at all for me.

I miss her so terribly much,
Even after such a long time.
She was only 14 when she died,
But a very old age for her breed.

As you may have surmised by now,
Who it is I speak of.
She was my very special pet,
And I loved her very much.

I still think about her,
During quiet moments alone.
Tears come to my eyes,
As I remember the love we shared.

I have another pet now,
But not of the same kind.
I could never abide the thought,
Of getting another of her like.

As I contemplate that day,
So very long ago and remember,
When she became irriversably ill,
That I had to have her uthenized.

Such a traumatizing day it was,
That I cried all day long.
Even several months later,
I would break down and cry.

Time has passed now,
And I've become used to my loss.
But I'll never forget her,
And the specialness we shared.

She surely must be up there,
In that lovely doggy heaven.
She was such a good little girl,
My Chi-Chi Chaquita Bonita.
