My favorite times of enjoyment,
Are very many indeed.
They signify a special place and time,
That only comes once a year.
Birthdays are dear to me,
As well they should be.
Celebrating a birth of a loved one,
and friends alike too.
There are other times of the year,
That come and go with joy.
Thanksgiving,
Halloween,
4th of July,
New Year's Day,
Valentine's Day and April Fools.
But none more important to me,
Than Christmas and Easter.
Easter is one of my very favorite holidays,
Not only because we get to dress up,
In our fancy new clothes,
And let the kiddies hunt pretty eggs,
But because it's when Jesus arose,
From the grave to lead us from sin.
Easter is the beginning,
Of new life all around us.
Trees all leafed out and grass is green again,
And flowers sprouting their colors all over.
Easter brings to us,
All that Spring has to offer.
Bright colors of new things,
And cheery faces as children sing.
Everything blooms new again,
And brightens our eyes with joy.
We seem to come alive once more,
As we shed sweatsuites for shorts and sandals.
Each year this comes about,
And we shout with glee.
We venture out to new beginnings,
And plan interesting adventures.
All this is well and good,
But we must not forget.
There's a truer meaning,
That should not be left out.
Easter is not just a holiday,
Nor any other day in our lives.
It is a day to remember always,
The day Jesus arose from the dead.
So celebrate Easter as you wish,
With all it pretty fineries.
But also keep in your mind and heart,
The real reason for Easter Sunday.
